April Musings from the Pres
It was a Beautiful day in the ParkSaturday April 11 turned out to be a beautiful day at Sandy Lake Park, in Carrollton TX.This was the annual Ford V8 Club All Ford picnic and NTVT had many of our birds present as well as some that came in there more up to date rides.I believe we had approximately 10 of our Vintage & Classic Birds, along with Dallas Sherman’s 2004 Bird there.I had to leave about 30 minutes before the awards so I am unaware of any trophies our group may have won. Win or not it is always a great time to show and talk about these great vehicles that we all really enjoy. I must say that sometimes when I can’t get my 65 to run the way I like, I feel like letting her go; But then when it all comes together and it runs like it did this weekend and looks as good as it does, it makes up for the other times. I am sure you all feel the same way.We also had a visiting bird. A beautiful 1961. The car was brought to the picnic by Peter Leddy from Plano. Peter has been working on the car getting it to the final restoration stare for the owner Don & Anita Owen. It was a pleasure to meet and talk with Peter and hopefully he will grace our attendance again. (Harley Eaton knows Peter as he had sold him some parts in the past. You know Harley knows everyone with Vintage TBird) Peter took an application for the Owens to fill out and become a member of the club. We look forward to hearing from them.In addition to Peter, we also met Buddy & Mary Cox who came up from Austin to see the cars at the picnic. They own a 66 Bird and I emailed them the info on the Austin club. Hopefully we will see them next year at the Regional Convention.Speaking of the Regional Convention for 2010, we have started our planning and the decision was made to make the Marriott on Highway 114 across from Texas Motor Speedway the host Hotel. We also will be holding the banquet and awards ceremony at the Circle R Ranch in Flower Mound. More details of all this at our May meeting so please be in attendance and ready to help get this event under way. We also completed out meeting schedule for this year and it is post on our member web site at www.ntvt.wetpaint.comThis years Regional is in Oklahoma City and If I counted correctly I believe NTVT will be represented by approximately 10 member families with several of them taking their birds. Thanks for the turn out and see you at the May meeting at the Texas FIre Museum.Dan B_____________________________________________________________________________________________MAY MEETINGwill be Saturday, May 16th at the Texas Fire Museum. 3/28/09Our March meeting was terrific! We met at the Red Lobster on Cockrell Hill Rd near I-20 in Duncanville, where Beverage and Hospitality Manager, Jay Davis, greeted us and made us very comfortable. The food was great, and the service was excellent. Thanks to the officers who made the arrangements for the meeting, and thanks to the restaurant staff who gave us great service. Be sure to visit them in the future and let them know how much we appreciated their hospitality. We'll post the minutes from the meeting soon, but to summarize, about 15 members met and did what we do best: talk and eat! We discussed some ideas for the 2010 Regional Convention that we will be hosting. Be sure to add your thoughts to the South Central VTCI Regional page on this site (see link at left). I know one thing, we will have a terrific time! We'll do more investigating and planning at the next meeting, which will take place at the All Ford Picnic on April 11, 2009. Watch for meeting details on this page.
